A Weekend of Pride, Purpose, and Stories: Central Alabama PrideFest & My Author Launch Reception

This past weekend was one that I will carry with me for a very long time.

As an author, there are moments you dream about—seeing your book in readers' hands, signing copies, hearing how your words connected with someone else's life. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, there are also moments that remind you why visibility, representation, and community matter. This weekend brought both of those worlds together in a way that was truly special.

Author Launch Reception at B&A Warehouse

On Saturday, I had the honor of celebrating the official launch of Inheritance of Silence during my Author Launch Reception at B&A Warehouse in Birmingham, Alabama.

Walking into the room and seeing friends, family, readers, and supporters gathered together was an emotional experience. The journey to publication has not been easy. Like many authors, I faced setbacks, doubts, and challenges along the way. There were moments when I wondered if this book would ever make it into the world.

Yet there I stood, surrounded by people who believed in me and in the story I had to tell.

I was able to speak about the inspiration behind Inheritance of Silence, share pieces of my journey, sign books, and connect with readers face-to-face. Those conversations reminded me why I write in the first place. Stories create connection. They allow us to see ourselves in others and help us feel less alone.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, purchased a book, asked questions, shared encouragement, or simply showed up to celebrate this milestone with me.

Central Alabama PrideFest 2026

On Sunday, I had the privilege of participating in Central Alabama PrideFest as both an author and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride has always been about more than a parade or a festival. It is about visibility. It is about resilience. It is about creating space for people to live authentically and tell their stories without fear.

Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to meet readers, speak with members of the community, sign books, and share the story behind Inheritance of Silence. Many of the conversations I had were deeply meaningful. People shared pieces of their own journeys, struggles, triumphs, and hopes for the future.

One of the greatest gifts of being an author is hearing someone say, "I see myself in this story."

Representation matters. Stories matter. Community matters.

Being able to stand in a space that celebrates authenticity while sharing a novel that explores identity, family, trauma, healing, and self-discovery felt incredibly meaningful.

Looking Ahead

As I reflect on this weekend, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Just a year ago, many of the opportunities I am experiencing today felt impossible. Yet here we are: Inheritance of Silence is published, readers are discovering the story, awards recognition continues to grow, and I have been fortunate enough to share my work with communities across the country.

This weekend was not simply about selling books. It was about connection. It was about celebrating how far this journey has come and recognizing that there is still so much more ahead.

To everyone who attended the Author Launch Reception, visited my table at PrideFest, purchased a copy of Inheritance of Silence, or continues to support my work—thank you.

Your encouragement means more than words can express.

This is only the beginning.
