When I released Inheritance of Silence on April 24, 2026, I knew I was sharing a deeply personal story with the world. What I did not know was how quickly this journey would begin opening doors, creating connections, and reminding me why stories matter.
The past several months have been filled with experiences that I will never forget. From meeting readers at book signings and Pride events to participating in interviews, podcasts, and community conversations, I have had the privilege of hearing from people who found pieces of themselves within the pages of Inheritance of Silence. Those conversations are the reason I write.
This year has also brought exciting recognition for the novel. Inheritance of Silence has received multiple award nominations, including recognition from the American Fiction Awards, Storytrade Book Awards, American Writing Awards, and International Impact Book Awards. I was deeply honored to be named a Finalist for the 2026 International Impact Book Awards Author of the Year in Contemporary Fiction.
These milestones are meaningful not because of trophies or titles, but because they represent something larger: the growing visibility of stories centered on identity, resilience, healing, family, and the courage to live authentically.
Beyond the awards, 2026 has been a year of community. I had the honor of participating in Dallas Pride, Central Alabama PrideFest, and my Author Launch Reception in Birmingham. Each event reinforced what I have always believed—that books have the power to bring people together, spark conversations, and build bridges of understanding.
The journey is far from over.
In the coming months, I will continue connecting with readers through bookstore appearances, speaking engagements, and literary events. I am also preparing for the release of my second novel, House of Windows, which will continue exploring the emotional depth and character-driven storytelling that readers have come to expect from my work.
At the same time, I am continuing work on future projects, including Burn the Map: Life Beyond What You Were Given, a memoir that explores identity, survival, resilience, and the moments that force us to choose a new direction in life.
When I began writing, I never imagined where this path might lead. Today, I find myself more grateful than ever—for every reader, every reviewer, every bookstore, every interviewer, every event organizer, every friend, and every member of the literary community who has supported this journey.
Thank you for being part of it.
The story continues.
