There are moments in a writer’s journey that feel quietly significant—and then there are moments that arrive with a kind of undeniable gravity. Today, I’m honored to share one of the latter.
I have been named a Finalist for the 2026 International Impact Book Awards – Author of the Year in Contemporary Fiction.
Even writing that sentence feels surreal.
This recognition is not just a milestone—it’s a reflection of the journey behind the work. Contemporary fiction, at its best, holds a mirror to the world as it is: complex, imperfect, emotionally layered, and deeply human. It asks difficult questions, explores unspoken truths, and invites readers to sit with characters whose lives may look different from their own, yet feel intimately familiar.
That has always been my goal.
To write stories that resonate beyond the page.
To create characters that linger.
To explore the spaces between what is said and what is felt.
Being acknowledged by the International Impact Book Awards is incredibly meaningful because of what it represents. This is an organization that celebrates stories not just for their craft, but for their impact—for their ability to move, challenge, and connect with readers across boundaries. To be considered among authors who are shaping contemporary literature in this way is both humbling and energizing.
But no recognition exists in a vacuum.
This moment belongs, in many ways, to every reader who has taken a chance on my work. To those who have reached out with messages, reviews, reflections, or even quiet support from afar—you are part of this story. Writing may begin as a solitary act, but it is completed through connection. Every time a reader finds meaning in a page, the work becomes something larger than the author.
It also belongs to the long, often unseen process behind the scenes—the drafts that didn’t work, the late nights, the rewrites, the uncertainty, and the persistence required to keep going anyway. Creative work is rarely linear, and recognition like this serves as a powerful reminder that the effort matters, even when the outcome is unclear.
Looking ahead, this nomination is not a finish line. It’s a moment of momentum.
It reinforces my commitment to continue telling stories that matter—stories that explore identity, resilience, relationships, and the nuanced realities of modern life. Stories that are unafraid to sit in discomfort, to embrace complexity, and to reflect the world with honesty and intention.
Whether or not I take home the final award, being named a finalist is an honor I carry with deep gratitude.
Thank you for being part of this journey. There is so much more to come.
