As an author, it is difficult to fully express what these recognitions mean to me.
Inheritance of Silence was written from a deeply personal place — a story rooted in resilience, identity, grief, survival, healing, and the complicated realities of finding your voice after enduring silence for far too long. What began as a deeply intimate creative process has evolved into a literary journey that continues to connect with readers, reviewers, bloggers, and literary organizations in ways I never imagined possible.
The LGBTQ Fiction nomination from the American Writing Awards is especially meaningful because representation and authentic storytelling matter. Literature has the power to create empathy, visibility, and understanding, and I am profoundly grateful to see these themes recognized.
Equally humbling is the continued recognition of the novel as a broader work of contemporary fiction through Book of the Year and debut novel nominations. To know that this story resonates beyond a single category reinforces exactly why I chose to tell it honestly and without compromise.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of readers, bookstores, bloggers, interviewers, reviewers, literary communities, friends, family, and every person who has shared, recommended, discussed, or championed this novel.
Thank you for continuing to believe in this story and in me as an author.
This is only the beginning.
